One of the main Pokemon Go events this month is the release of Tapu Fini and Mega Legendary Pokemon Mega Latias and Mega Latios.
Pokemon Go Research Breakthrough
Alolan Grimer is the May Research Breakthrough. If you get Research Breakthrough this month, next month you’ll be able to catch Alolan Grimer.
To earn a Research Breakthrough you will need to collect stamps that you receive from the Field Research tasks.
You get stamps from the daily completion of Field Research tasks.
Pokemon Go May 2022 Community Day
Saturday, May 21 is the Pokemon Go May Community Day in 2022. The featured Pokemon this month is Alolan Geodude.
If you get the chance to earn plenty of candy during the event time period, you can evolve your Geodude into Alolan Golem which learns a new Fast Attack Rollout.
Featured Pokemon in Raids
Wondering what Pokémon will be available in Pokemon Go raids in May 2022?
Well, wonder no more, because all the following Pokemon will feature in raids this month:
Tier-5 (Five-Star) Raids
Keep in mind that all the raids will start and end at exactly 10:00 A.M. local time on the following dates:
- Until Tuesday, May 3, 2022 – Therian Forme Landorus
- May 10 2022 to May 25, 2022 – Tapu Fini
- May 25 2022 to June 1, 2022 – Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini
Mega Raids
Here are the Pokemon that will be available in Mega Raids all of May 2022. Again please keep in mind that the raids start and end at 10:00 AM local time.
- Until May 3, 2022 – Mega Kangaskhan
- May 3, 2022, to May 10, 2022 – Mega Latias Mega Latios
- May 10, 2022, to May 25, 2022 – Mega Blastoise
- May 25, 2022, to June 1, 2022 – Mega Altaria
Pokemon Go May 2022 Raid Hours
The Raid Hour special event happens every Wednesday in May and it starts at 6 PM local time and lasts until 7 PM during the event. So basically you only have a 1-hour window.
As you know, during these Raid Hours, there will be more Five-Star raids available at the Gym than usual, and this means that they will also feature the Pokemon appearing in those raids (for their respective time schedule).
- May 4 – Mega Latias and Mega Latios
- May 11 – Tapu Fini
- May 18 – Tapu Fini
- May 25 – Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini
Pokemon Go May 2022 Spotlight Hours
As you already know, in Pokemon Go, every Tuesday evening the Spotlight Hour event takes place. It’s also from 6 to 7 p.m. local time (1-hour window) and the event will spotlight a Pokemon plus a bonus depending on the date. Below you can find the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for May 2022:

Pokemon Go May 2022 Limited-Time Events
The following limited-time events will take place in Pokemon Go in May 2022:
Mega Moment – The Mega Evolution event will only be available for a day and so it ends exactly on May 1, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
During the event, players should be on the lookout for Pokémon that can Mega Evolve as they are going to have a higher chance to be seen in the wild than usual.
Pokemon Air Adventures Event – The event takes place between May 3 and May 8, and with this, we get Mega Latias and Mega Latios, which are the first Legendary Pokémon that have the ability to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Go.
Water Festival Event – During this event trainers can focus on catching more Water-type Pokemon. The event runs from May 12 to May 20.
Alola to Alola Event – A special event that runs from May 25 until May 31 2022 where the Pokemon Go community celebrates the awesome adventures that players had in Alola this year. The event will end on June 1, 2022, at 10 a.m. local time.

Buddy widget comes to Pokemon Go in May 2022
Niantic has announced that a new feature called Buddy Widget is going to be released this month. The Buddy Widget allows Pokemon Go trainers to add a widget on their device home screen that features information about their in-game Buddy Pokemon.
