AFK Arena Tier List – Best Heroes Ranked (March 2024)

Here’s our META AFK Arena Tier List containing the best heroes for mid to end-game content.

As always with any tier list of sorts, please don’t take things too literally. Some of these heroes will do better or worse, depending on where you are in the game, and what levels they are.

In general though, this AFK Arena tier list was made more specifically for late to end-game PvE and PvP content and also assuming that every hero is ascended and has their signature weapons and pretty much all the best gear that you can get.

AFK Arena Tier List Ranking Explanation

AFK Arena Hero Rankings

  • Tier S+ AFK Arena Heroes (BEST) – These heroes are literally very OP (overpowered), in every sense of the imagination. They have great abilities that can single-handedly change the outcome of a fight. You should always prioritize to level up and invest in these heroes.
  • Tier S AFK Arena Heroes (Great) – Not as overpowered as the S+ heroes, but they still perform better than A tier heroes in every single way, and are fantastic units in every team.
  • Tier A AFK Arena Heroes (Good) – Great AFK Arena characters that can be useful in most teams, though they’re not quite as powerful as the best ones. They can still clear content with relative ease though. So don’t sleep on these units.
  • Tier B AFK Arena Heroes (Decent) – These are the average powered tier heroes in AFK Arena, they are not that bad but not that great either, they are still good to use situationally though.
  • Tier C AFK Arena Heroes (Below Average) – These heroes are not that good to use in general game content (especially not in the end-game), they can be of use situationally though. For example, Thesku can easily become A-tier in PVP.
  • Tier D AFK Arena Heroes (Weak) – In our opinion, you shouldn’t really be using these characters, maybe if you’re just starting out, sure… go ahead. Otherwise, you should only use these heroes as fodder to level up the much better heroes.

How Did We Come Up With This AFK Arena Tier List?

AFK Arena Tier List Criteria
Image source: AFK Arena, Lilith Games

We created this meta tier list by carefully analyzing the experiences and feedback of hardcore players in the AFK Arena community such as from the game’s official Discord server and Reddit page, but also from our own gameplay experiences.

This AFK Arena tier list will always be updated, according to the game meta and latest patches. Sometimes though, we might miss some things, or misplace a hero and if that happens please leave a comment below to inform us.

Please keep in mind though that this is an AFK Arena tier list for end-game PVE (level 240+) meta of the game.

For example, Saurus is S+ up until level 160, but after that, his performance gradually goes down and he becomes easily outmatched by more powerful heroes.

The same goes with Izold, he is a great tank up until the late game, after that he becomes a B-tier hero in our AFK Arena end-game tier list.

You will find many tier lists online for different levels for example heroes that you need to use from Lvl 1 to 60 or 60 to 160, etc. We think that’s wrong, as many players don’t have enough resources to level up different heroes for different levels of the game, and it might even take you longer to progress that way.

So we think that’s better to focus on S and S+ tier heroes from an early start and invest in them when you can so that you can bring them quicker to 160+ when they will start to shine even more.

Plus, you level up and progress through the early stages of the game pretty quickly, so it doesn’t really matter what heroes you choose, so yeah, go for S and S+ tiers from the get-go, if you have them of course.

Certain AFK Arena heroes will perform differently if they are in the lower / beginner stages of the game.

What’s more important to know is that, even though you might have all these S and S+ heroes in your team, they might not perform as well as you thought in certain aspects of the game.

For example in the main PvE campaign, sometimes even if you have a team full of S+ heroes, you might not be able to advance further, unless you take into mind hero classes, faction, and synergy.

You will find that making slight changes to your team and putting certain heroes to play with others will perform better or worse than simply using a team full of S+ meta tier list heroes.

Look, when it comes to the best heroes in AFK Arena, certain names will immediately come into your mind, and sometimes you’re right because you see these names in almost every player’s team at higher levels in the game.

Taking insight from our tier list and the meta of the game right now, we think that heroes such as Lucretia, Ainz, Raku, Alna, Awakened Talene, Daimon, and Rowan are the best in the current meta.

Of course, all these heroes will fill different slots since they are all of different classes and factions, so for example Daimon is considered to be the best tank in the game and almost any meta team composition should have him.

The same goes with Thoran, he’s not only a great tank but also very good support for Daimon, especially with his cheating death ability.

Rowan, Silas, and Elijah & Lailah are great AFK Arena support heroes that will be a good fit in every team composition. Sometimes you might see players using 2 support classes or more in the same team, to have a much higher chance of survivability.

Even though we listed here almost exclusively S+ tier heroes, don’t get discouraged from using S and A Tier AFK Arena heroes also, when it might make for a better team synergy or when fighting certain factions in the game.

Best AFK Arena Teams

Usually, this deserves another full article all on its own, and we will do one in the near future, showcasing the exact team composition and positions for some of the best meta teams in the AFK arena game.

But for now, we’ll keep things simple and just talk about general team composition and strategies.

Normally you will want to have two tanks in the frontline (positions 1 and 2), and then on the backline (positions 3,4, and 5) fill it up with great damage dealers and support classes.

Sometimes you can switch it up and use a damage dealer like Shemira for example in the frontline, substituting for a tank, and then add an extra support class, damage dealer, and even a second tank in the backline.

You might not have the best S+ or S tier heroes right away, but when reaching the late to end-game content, most players have enough of these heroes to form great teams, while also keeping in mind the team synergies and faction advantages while fighting and progressing through different aspects of the game.

In fact, it’s recommended you have a few different team formations so that you can quickly switch back and forth when needed.

So there you have it, we hope this meta AFK Arena tier list will help you progress further and improve your rankings in-game.

Don’t take this list as 100% bulletproof though, as we said earlier, some things might change all the time, and depending on how you use these heroes they might not perform optimally.

But with all things considered and if all heroes are ascended and 240+ with their signature items, then this list is a pretty good reference point on what heroes to invest in and create your best AFK Arena team.

What is AFK Arena?

If you somehow stumbled upon this page without knowing what this is all about, well here’s a short review and intro for the lovely game called AFK Arena.

This is an almost idle RPG game, developed by Lilith games, and you can download it for both Android and iOS.

Fair warning, this is a gacha game (you can only acquire new heroes by summoning them from scrolls or soulstones), and if you don’t like that, then this might not be the game for you, although to be honest, it’s a pretty well-made gacha game that’s also very friendly to free to play players.

You have different hero types, roles, and factions, and so this also makes it a strategy game.

All the factions (Wilders, Maulers, Lightbearers, Graveborns, Celestials, Hypogeans, and Dimensionals) have a synergy between their heroes. So putting a few of the same faction heroes together in a team will give you a synergy bonus which will raise your stats in battle (such as more attack, defense, crit rate, etc).

The whole gameplay is all about your team, you have to gather and level up the best possible heroes to create the ultimate meta formation to destroy people in PvP and progress further through the PvE campaign.

Each hero has their own special set of abilities that are unique to them and also an ultimate skill that can change the course of a match if you trigger it at the right time.

The game has a lot of content both PvE and PvP, there are many things to enjoy such as Guild Boss battles, various PvP arenas and ladders, Arcane Labyrinth, King’s Tower, Peaks of time, Bounties, and much more.

You will earn coins and various currencies from playing through all of this content, and you can spend them in the store, where you can find anything you want such as new heroes, armor, weapons soulstones, dust, and various chests (such as gold and exp chests).

The whole game is pretty friendly to free-to-play players and is also rewarding for those who choose to spend money, it’s probably one of the best idle gacha games on the market today.

So if you never tried it before, you could give it a try and see for yourself how much fun you can have. If you enjoyed this rankings list check out our NIKKE Tier List as well.

Don’t forget to also check out AFK Arena Codes & Redemption page, if you want to get some extra rewards in-game.

        • Hey there,

Thanks for the feedback, yep you’re right I’ve missed a couple of those heroes on yesterday’s update (with so many new ones I kinda overlooked a few).

Anyway thanks for the suggestions, we appreciate it.

With so many tier lists that we support for different games, sometimes, we lag behind a bit on updates on certain ones that we’re not really playing anymore. That’s why we welcome comments like yours 🙂

          Cheers,
          Dan
